Journal  June  2010

June 5, 2010
I haven't been writing much these days. I found I put so much energy into the journal on this web site that I didn't do too much songwriting. I find I am doing a lot more now. I am finishing and reworking songs and writing new tunes as well. It feels good. There a re lots of changes in the works and I feel they are for the best. I like to hang onto the old and comfortable and sometimes life will give you a nudge, or kick, in a new direction. I am ready. On June 10th Kayden will be 5 years old. It seems like he has always been here and like he arrived yesterday all at the same time. There are so many things for which I am grateful this morning; all of my family, for food and shelter, for freedom, for health, for music. Today I get to spend an hour and a half playing music with friends that I love for people I love playing either songs I have written or songs we have made our own through our arrangements. What a gift and a joy is music. It is discipline and dedication as well. Preparation time is immense for making music and always worth it. Here is to making music with Canceda Beach, Dale Fuentes, Ron Llinas, John Matthews, Jimmy Culler and Michael Daily.
Last night Kayden woke me up at 1 in the morning. I sensed his presence and woke up to him leaning over me. Dang he scared the crap out of me. He simply said "Do you want to snuggle with me, yes or no?" So guess where I slept last night. It was a cozy night and he slept in because when I got up a 6 I covered him back up. He had managed to bunch all his blankets on the floor. I suspect that is why he wakes up so early; he is freezing off his booty cha. So now before everyone wakes up I am looking at the two versions of the set list and thinking I am not going to type and reprint them. I am going to leave Draft one in tack and add and remove songs as directed by my heart at the concert. We are hoping for a lovely day.
